Why do we need small water bodies?
Water pools, small ponds and springs.
Despite their small size, they have great significance
for biodiversity.
In areas with intensive agriculture and forestry,
these wet habitats are especially important for many species.
Some of these water bodies dry out in the summer.
But they are not empty of life.
Here there are species which have developed strategies
to survive drying out.
It may be that they have a short life cycle
or eggs which survive the drying out.
